I am not fooling anyone, no how and no way, a 90-day weight loss challenge is a grind with my mind. Tick-tock, tick-tock. As a sworn member of the boredom grazing, the willpower is tested by the time between meals.
The January 2024 weight loss challenge with The ODJ and Casshole was a joke! I whooped them handily. Then in preparation for my family's move to Knoxville, I shed a few more pounds through early summer with workouts and a marginal diet program. Then the move to the South sent me into a tailspin of my love for all things Southern cuisine. To make matters worse, carpooling and my work schedule nuked the customary meal execution that had been successful for nearly five years. I had to put off a standard healthy diet for one that was extremely bad for a late 40's male who is not consistently active. March 3rd, 2025 would be the earliest I could regain my standard. And oh how bad things got. I shall submit weight stats in a future post, which I expect to be in the high 250s.
When the scales rock beyond 240, a weight loss challenge has been my only success. Not an accountability program with a wanna-be, who struggles with the grind. I cannot rely on others. This I know, having failed with friends in the past. I only succeed when it's me against my mind. Wake up, eat late, enjoy lunch, dodge the mid-day hunger thoughts, fight off the hangries to make it to the gym, eat a full dinner, and stay out of the pantry. Rinse and repeat!
There are no long-term expectations. I am a roller coaster of weight loss and weight gain. This is me. Weight loss challenges are my thing. I love them. Since 2008 the successful ones have been well documented -- and even though in 2022 I swore them off, I know now that as long as I am sticking with diet and exercise, and avoiding any crazy cleanses beyond three days, then the weight loss method for me is 90-days. Defined started and set finish. All else is maintenance.
Here's to another fun one. Foresight is 20-20.
